Hockey Night at the Grand Wayne brings generations of Komet Hockey together for a special evening celebrating the franchise’s 75th Anniversary Season. Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with numerous Komets Legends during a cocktail hour before settling in for the evening’s featured program—a live panel discussion filled with stories, memories and behind-the-scenes moments from their time in Fort Wayne.

From championship heroes and record-setting players to one of the most accomplished coaches in professional hockey, the evening will offer fans a rare opportunity to hear directly from some of the men who helped make Komet Hockey a Fort Wayne tradition.

Meet the Panel

Bruce Boudreau

Bruce Boudreau became a Komet fan favorite during two high-scoring seasons in Fort Wayne from 1990 to 1992, producing 229 points in 184 regular-season and playoff appearances. He led the IHL with 80 assists in 1990-91 before later returning to coach the Komets for two seasons, earning IHL Coach of the Year honors and leading Fort Wayne to the 1994 Turner Cup Finals. Boudreau went on to coach more than 1,000 NHL games with Washington, Anaheim, Minnesota and Vancouver, winning the 2008 Jack Adams Award as NHL Coach of the Year. He currently works as an analyst for NHL Network.

Kevin St. Pierre

Kevin St. Pierre delivered one of the greatest goaltending seasons in Komets history in 2003-04, setting franchise records with 43 victories and eight shutouts while helping Fort Wayne reach the Colonial Cup Finals. His performance earned him UHL Most Valuable Player and Best Goaltender honors—an extraordinary achievement for a goaltender. St. Pierre returned for two additional seasons with the Komets and enjoyed a professional career of more than two decades that included time in the American Hockey League and successful stops in Europe, including a championship with the Belfast Giants.

Robbie Irons

Robbie Irons was a fixture in the Fort Wayne crease across three decades, playing 11 seasons for the Komets between 1967 and 1981. A six-time IHL All-Star, Irons established franchise goaltending records that included 14 career shutouts, 17 assists and 65 playoff appearances. His No. 30 was retired in recognition of his place among the most accomplished and popular goaltenders in team history. Irons also appeared briefly in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues before beginning a second Komets career in broadcasting, working alongside Bob Chase for more than three decades.

Cody Sol

Cody Sol patrolled the Fort Wayne blue line for five seasons from 2014 to 2019, becoming one of the most recognizable and physical defensemen of the Komets’ early ECHL era. The 6-foot-6 defenseman consistently ranked among the team’s penalty-minute leaders while developing into a dependable two-way contributor, recording career highs of eight goals, 21 assists and 29 points in 2017-18. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers, Sol played professionally for nearly a decade and became a fan favorite for his toughness, work ethic and willingness to stand up for his teammates.

Steve Fletcher

Steve Fletcher became one of the most feared and beloved players in Komets history during seven seasons in Fort Wayne. Known as “Mr. Intensity,” Fletcher played 342 games for the Komets and remains the franchise’s career leader in penalty minutes, but his impact extended well beyond the scoresheet. His physical style, leadership and connection with the Fort Wayne crowd made him one of the defining players of his era. Fletcher also appeared in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets. He was inducted into the Komets Hall of Fame, and his No. 77 was retired in 2007.

Al Dumba

Al Dumba was one of the IHL’s most dangerous offensive players during four seasons with the Komets from 1977 to 1981. He recorded 400 points in 290 regular-season and playoff appearances for Fort Wayne, highlighted by a remarkable 1979-80 season in which he collected 47 goals and 72 assists for 119 points. That performance earned Dumba both the IHL scoring championship and the James Gatschene Memorial Trophy as the league’s Most Valuable Player. His blend of scoring and playmaking made him a central figure during one of the most entertaining offensive periods in Komets history.

Shawn Szydlowski

Shawn Szydlowski spent 10 seasons with the Komets and retired as one of the most productive players in franchise history. He recorded 589 points in 611 regular-season and playoff appearances, earned multiple All-ECHL selections and was named the ECHL’s Most Valuable Player in 2017-18 after leading the league with 79 points. Szydlowski was also a key member of Fort Wayne’s 2021 Kelly Cup championship team. Before joining the Komets, he signed an NHL contract with the Buffalo Sabres and played in the American Hockey League. His combination of skill, competitiveness and longevity made him a defining Komet of the ECHL era.

Colin Chin

Fort Wayne native Colin Chin played 10 seasons and 660 regular-season games for his hometown Komets, collecting 246 goals, 390 assists and 636 points. He served as team captain from 1989 until his retirement in 1996 and helped lead the Komets to the historic 1993 Turner Cup championship. Chin produced a career-best 100 points the following season and later served as a player-coach. His leadership, consistency and deep connection to the community made him one of the most important players in franchise history. Chin entered the Komets Hall of Fame in 2007, when his No. 26 was also retired.
