Eddie Long

Arrived in Fort Wayne in 1952 as a 19-year-old right wing nicknamed "Tiny Mite," but by the time he hung up his skates in 1966, he had become "Mr. Komet"—a legend in orange and black. Over 14 consecutive unforgettable seasons and 801 games, Long shattered records with 425 goals, 427 assists, and 852 points, while racking up 772 penalty minutes. He dazzled in five IHL All-Star games, lifted the Turner Cup as a player in 1963, and then guided the Komets to another championship as coach in 1965. When he retired, he stood atop the IHL as its all-time points leader.
