Komets place 14 in AHL camps

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Monday that 14 players on the Fort Wayne preseason roster will be attending AHL training camps when they open.12 players will be on Lake Erie's preseason roster when the Monsters open their camp Monday, Sept. 29. Those players are: Forwards Shawn Szydlowski, Thomas Frazee, Eric Faille, C.J. Severyn, Matthew Pistilli, Paul Crowder and Angelo Esposito. Defensemen Cody Sol, Ian Barteaux, James Martin and Matt Krug and goaltender Pat Nagle.

Also attending AHL camps are forward Mike Embach (Chicago Wolves) and defenseman Mikael Tam (Hartford Wolfpack)."The number of Komet players attending Lake Erie and other AHL camps was a big factor in being able to sign quality players this off-season," said Komet general manager David Franke. "Being on the ice in Lake Erie this week will improve our players conditioning for when they arrive in Fort Wayne."

In addition, Franke announced that Komet head coach Gary Graham is attending the Lake Erie camp through Thursday this week. "This is a great opportunity for Gary to see all of the Lake Erie players during practices and scrimmages this week," Franke said. Fort Wayne will host the Lake Erie vs Grand Rapids AHL exhibition game at the Coliseum Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:30pm and may feature many of the Komets in the Lake Erie training camp fighting for a spot on the Monster's roster.

Komet camp opens Sunday, Oct. 5-- The Komets will officially open training camp Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Komets annual training camp media luncheon is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 8 this year. It will be held in the Red Room at the Memorial Coliseum beginning at 12:15pm. Komet personnel and players will be available for interviews and photo ops. All Fort Wayne area media are invited to attend.

Orange vs. Black open scrimmage-- The Komets will present a training camp intrasquad scrimmage game on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 5pm-6:20pm at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse, 3869 Ice Way in Fort Wayne.
