Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced today that their NHL affiliate, the Colorado Avalanche, has reassigned goaltender Sami Aittokallio from the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters to Fort Wayne.Aittokallio (eye-toe-KAHL-ee-oh), 22, was selected by the Avalanche in the fourth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The Tampere, Finland native made his pro debut in 2010-11 appearing in 16 games for Ilves in Finland's top professional ice hockey league (SM-Liiga). Aittokallio backstopped his native Finland to a fourth-place finish at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship in Alberta.Aittokallio made his AHL debut with Lake Erie logging 27 games and a 3.00 goals-against average and appeared in his first NHL game with Colorado during 2012-13.
Last season Aittokallio logged 36 games in his second season with Lake Erie, leading the Monsters with a 2.65 goals-against average, .909 save percentage and four shutouts.The netminder has made one appearance this season with Lake Erie, stopping 25 of 29 shots in a 5-4 win at Grand Rapids Oct. 24.
In additional player moves, the Komets announced today that goaltender Francois Tremblay has been placed on reserve.Komets home for Halloween double-header weekend-- This weekend the first-place Komets (5-0-0) are home for a Halloween double-header against the Kalamazoo Wings (3-1-1). The division rival Wings visit Friday at 8pm and again Saturday night at 7:30 for their first two of six visits this season.
