Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets opened the 2014 preseason schedule with a 7-3 win Friday night over the visiting Evansville IceMen at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Fort Wayne forwards Eric Faille and Angelo Esposito had impressive starts, each scoring two goals and two assists for 4-point nights. Also scoring for the Komets were forwards Christian Ouellet, Paul Crowder and Brett Beebe.
Scoring for the IceMen were forwards Andre Bouvet-Morrissette, Mike Henderson and Nathan Moon.The Komets out-shot Evansville 42-32. Netminder Francois Tremblay earned the Fort Wayne win making 29 saves while Brandon Komm suffered the loss for the IceMen with 35 saves.

Monday the Komets will cap the preseason schedule with a 7:30pm faceoff against the Kalamazoo Wings at the Coliseum. Last season the Komets posted a 4-7-3 regular season series record against the Wings. Kalamazoo opens their exhibition season tonight at Toledo in the first of a pair against the Walleye. The Wings host the Walleye Saturday at Wings Stadium before making the trip to Fort Wayne for Monday night's tuneup.
After Monday night's tilt against Kalamazoo the Komets will prepare for the season opener at Indianapolis Friday, Oct. 17 at 7:35pm at the newly renovated State Fairgrounds Coliseum. The Komets will present the 63rd home opener in Fort Wayne Saturday, Oct. 18 when the new Indy Fuel visit at 7:30pm.
