Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Sunday that they have released three players from the preseason roster. The three players released are forward Maxwell Tardy, defenseman Paul Arnott and goaltender Eric Levine.The Fort Wayne preseason roster of 24 players includes 13 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.
After one week of camp, the Komets are 1-0-1 after skating two home exhibition games against the Evansville IceMen. Friday the Komets stopped the IceMen 7-3 before falling in a shootout Saturday night 3-2.Training camp continues this week with one exhibition game remaining. Monday the Komets will cap the preseason schedule with a 7:30pm faceoff against the Kalamazoo Wings at the Coliseum. The Wings are 1-1-0 after two preseason games. Friday night Kalamazoo lost 4-2 at Toledo before earning a 5-2 win Saturday night against the Walleye at Wings Stadium. Monday night's match will be the final preseason tune-up for the Komets and Kalamazoo before the season openers Friday, Oct. 17.
The Komets will open the season at Indianapolis Friday at 7:35pm at the newly renovated State Fairgrounds Coliseum. The Komets will present the 63rd home opener in Fort Wayne Saturday, Oct. 18 when the new Indy Fuel visit at 7:30pm. Kalamazoo opens the season Friday at Elmira.
