Komets stop Solar Bears 6-4

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets extended their win streak to three games by upending the visiting Orlando Solar Bears 6-4 Saturday night. A Fort Wayne crowd of 7,279 witnessed the action of 10 goals scored in a game with 45 minutes of penalties thrown in to the mix.

The Komets erased a 3-1 deficit before Orlando took a 4-3 lead into the second intermission. The Komets took control in the third frame scoring three unanswered tallies for the win. Fort Wayne's Garret Meurs earned the number one star of the game honors scoring two goals, including the game winner, and adding an assist for a three-point night to extended his goal-scoring streak to three games (4g). Shawn Szydlowski netted a pair for the night, including an empty netter with 1:04 remaining in the game to seal the victory. Christian Ouellett (1g, 2a) and defenseman John Martin (1g, 2a) also scored three-point nights for the Komets. Four different players scored for the Solar Bears including Brett Findlay, Mickey Lang, Jake Parenteau and Greg Miller. Komet goaltender Pat Nagle snagged his second straight win and improved to 9-3-1 making 19 saves and Orlando's Garret Sparks suffered the loss making 25 saves on 30 shots.

The Komets improve to an ECHL best 14-4-0 for 28 points while Orlando falls to 10-8-2. -ECHL Standings-

The Komets now get ready for a four-game, two-week road tour. The Komets will skate next at Cincinnati Friday, Dec. 5 at 7:35pm before heading south to intrastate rival Indy to face the Fuel Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7:35pm. The Komets will remain on the road for a pair of back-to-back games at Evansville Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13 before returning home to host the Toledo Walleye Sunday, Dec. 14.

Schrock, Embach, Szydlowski, Nagle at Tilted Kilt Tuesday-- Fans will have a chance to visit with Komet players Kaleigh Schrock, Mike Embach, Shawn Szydlowski and Pat Nagle this Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery in Jefferson Pointe (4541 Illinois Road) in Fort Wayne from 6:30pm-8pm. All Komet fans are welcome to take advantage of many photo opportunities and autographs.
