Komets gain point in 5-4 OTL to Toledo Sunday

The Komets finished a weekend of three games in three nights by gaining a point in a 5-4 overtime setback to the visiting Toledo Walleye. The Komets pushed their point-streak to eight games (7-0-1) as their winning streak ended at a season-high seven games. The last time the Komets had a seven-game winning streak was during 2008-09 when they logged 10 straight wins (3/21/14-4/8/09). C.J. Severyn, Meurs, Faille and Brett Perlini scored for the Komets. It was Perlini's first goal as a Komet and Faille extended his point-scoring streak to five games (3g, 4a). Nagle extended his unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1) making 25 saves in his third straight start. -Gamesheet-

Komets streaks to start the next week-- Komets riding an eight-game point streak (7-0-1).....Faille has a five-game point streak (3g, 4a).....Nagle has started three straight games, is unbeaten in six straight (5-0-1), and has a three-game road winning streak.

Milestones-- Defenseman William Lacasse logged his 100th ECHL career game Sunday against Toledo.....Severyn has 98 career points.....Szydlowski has appeared in 199 career games.

Leaders of the week-- Faille and Meurs with two goals and two assists each....Szydlowski with two goals.....Severyn, Perlini and Pistilli with a goal and an assist each.....Condon with two assists.

Komet leaders-- Szydlowski with 12 goals...Szydlowski and Faille with 23 points....James Martin leads with 16 assists.....Cody Sol leads with 31 penalty minutes....Drew Daniels leads with +21.....Nagle leads goaltenders with 12-3-1, 2.44 goals-against average and .906 save percentage.

How they stand-- The Komets lead the ECHL with 18 wins and 37 points after 23 games. North Division rival Toledo is on the Komets' heels with 17 wins and 35 points for second-place overall in the ECHL after 21 games. Also grabbing at the ECHL brass ring from the Eastern Conference is Florida (17-3-1) with 35 points.

The week ahead-- The Komets will skate three games in three nights over the weekend before the Christmas break. Friday the Komets skate at Kalamazoo at 7:30pm. Saturday the Komets return home to host Indy at 7:35pm and Evansville Sunday at 5pm.

Military Appreciation Weekend-- Don't forget, this weekend is Military Appreciation Weekend when the Komets host Indy Saturday and Evansville Sunday. See the Komets in their beautiful Military Throwback Jerseys to be auctioned to benefit Veterans Airlift Command. Fans are also asked to bring items that will be collected four our troops overseas, such as books, magazines, DVD's, snacks, sanitizers, wipes, hard candy...anything for our troops that can be included in the Komet Kare Packages.
