Komets knock Fuel 3-1

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets extended their point streak to 10 games (9-0-1) Saturday night by stopping the visiting Indy Fuel 3-1 in front of 6,696 Fort Wayne faithful on the first night of a Military Appreciation Weekend at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Komets improved to a perfect 6-0-0 against Indy this season with five meetings remaining including this New Year's Eve when the Fuel return to help the Komets ring in 2015.

After spotting the Fuel with the first goal of the game at 3:52 of the first period, Mike Embach responded with the equalizer at 10:48. Then after the first intermission the Komets returned to the ice to net a pair of goals in the second frame by Eric Faille and Garrett Meurs to eventually finish the scoring the match.Faille pushed his point-scoring streak to seven games (5g, 4a) while Shawn Szydlowski dished an assist on Embach's tally to finish the night with a three-game point streak (3g, 2a). Pat Nagle extended his unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1) making 29 saves on 30 shots and improved to 13-3-1 after 17 games. -Gamesheet-

The Komets improved to 20-4-1 and 41 points to remain tied for the ECHL overall lead with Toledo who defeated the Wings at Kalamazoo Saturday night 4-1.-ECHL Standings-

Military Appreciation Weekend continues when the Komets host the Evansville IceMen Sunday at 5pm.

The Komets are wearing Military Throwback Jerseys for the two games over the weekend to be auctioned to benefit Veterans Airlift Command. Fans are also asked to bring items that will be collected four our troops overseas such as books, magazines, DVD's, snacks, sanitizers, wipes, hard candy or anything for our troops that can be included in the Komet Kare Packages. Also, all military, active and veterans, can take advantage of the Komets' Military Appreciation Ticket Offer where they can buy one ticket and get one free with a military I.D. for both games this weekend.

The Komets home game Sunday will be aired on ESPN Radio AM 1380 and FM 106.7 with Bob Chase calling the action radio-rinkside. All Komet radio broadcasts can also be heard worldwide on the web at Komets.com presented by OmniSource Radio Recycle.
