Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Thursday that right winger Matthew Pistilli has been released from his PTO with the AHL's Norfolk Admirals and will return to the Fort Wayne lineup.
Pistilli, 26, began the season posting five goals and 13 points in 12 games with the Komets and earned ECHL Player of the Week honors during the period of Oct. 20-26 before signing on with Norfolk. During his stay with the Admirals Pistilli scored a goal and added two assists for three points in 10 appearances. The Montreal, Quebec native is in his sixth year as a pro since signing an entry level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL in 2009.Pistilli is expected to be in the lineup when the Komets skate at Evansville Friday night. -Pistilli bio-The Komets will skate back-to-back games at Evansville this weekend on Friday and Saturday nights. Both games face off at 8:15pm Fort Wayne time.Walleye visit Sunday-- Sunday the Toledo Walleye make their first trip of the season to Fort Wayne for a 5pm faceoff. The first-place Komets (16-4-0, 32 points) hold a two-point margin over the division rival Walleye (14-3-2, 30 points) who skate at Wheeling tonight. While the Komets skate at Evansville Friday and Saturday, the Walleye face Kalamazoo in a home-and-home series. Sunday's game will be the third game in three days for the Komets and the fifth game in six days for Toledo. The Walleye (15-3-2, 32 points) collected two points and a 4-2 win Wednesday night at Wheeling and moved into a tie with the Komets (16-4-0, 32 points) for first place in the ECHL.
All three Komet games this weekend will be broadcast on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and FM 92.3. Radio broadcasts are also webcast at Komets.com presented by OmniSource Radio Recycle. Saturday's game from Evansville will also be telecast locally on MyTV. Home for the holidays-- After this Sunday's home tilt against Toledo, the Komets will be home for a double-header weekend Saturday, Dec. 20 against Indy and Sunday, Dec. 21 against Evansville. After Christmas, the Komets will be home for four straight games in seven nights. The holiday stretch includes games Friday, Dec. 27 (Evansville), Monday, Dec. 29 (Quad City), the annual New Year's Eve game Wednesday, Dec. 31 (Indy) and Friday, Jan 2 (Wheeling).
