Szydlowski named ECHL Player of the Week

Fort Wayne, IN-- The ECHL announced today that Fort Wayne's Shawn Szydlowski has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 15-21.Szydlowski scored three goals and added three assists in three games as the Komets extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games (10-0-1). The right winger had points in each game including two multi-point affairs to finish the week riding a four game point-scoring streak (4g, 3a) and established a three-game assist streak (3a). Szydlowski was instrumental in scoring back-to-back goals and adding an assist in the Komets' 5-4 win at Kalamazoo Friday, his 200th pro game. Saturday he assisted on the Komets' first goal of a 3-1 home win against Indy and Sunday the St. Clair Shores native scored a goal and dished an assist in regulation time before netting a shootout tally in a 4-3 shootout win over the visiting Evansville IceMen Sunday.The 24-year-old leads Fort Wayne with 15 goals and is tied for fourth overall in the ECHL with 29 points after appearing in all 26 games to date. 2014-15 is his second season with the Komets.Holidays on ice-- After the Christmas break the Komets will skate four home games in seven nights. This week the Komets travel to Evansville to face the IceMen at Ford Center Friday night at 8:15 Fort Wayne time. Saturday the Komets return home to host the IceMen at 7:30pm to complete a home-and-home weekend set.

Following the upcoming holiday weekend, the Komets are home for three games in five nights. Monday, Dec. 29 Quad City makes their only visit of the season at 7:30pm. Wednesday, Dec. 31 the Komets welcome the Indy Fuel back to the Coliseum to ring in 2015 with the traditional Fort Wayne New Year's Eve game. Friday Jan. 2 the Komets welcome the Wheeling Nailers at 8pm.

KIDS SEAT FREE Monday-- Monday, Dec. 29 the Komets will host Quad City on another Kids Seat Free Night, courtesy Aunt Millie's, Parkview Health and the Komets. Any child under the age of 12 can see the game for free with a full-priced adult ticket purchase. Bring your skates Monday.....Monday's game will also feature a special holiday postgame skate courtesy Wendy's.
