Komet defensemen Martin, Leach get call from Lake Erie

Fort Wayne, IN-- Komet defensemen James Martin and Joey Leach have been called up to Lake Erie of the AHL.

Martin has been loaned to the Monsters after appearing in all 40 games to date with the Komets and leading Fort Wayne defensemen with six goals and ranks second among ECHL defensemen with 30 points. The four-year pro also represented the Komets last week at the ECHL All-Star Game in Orlando.Leach has been reassigned to Lake Erie for the second time this season. Leach, appearing in his second full season as a pro, has registered 13 assists and 14 points in 37 Fort Wayne games.

The Komets (28-9-3, 59 points) return home this week for a double-header Friday and Saturday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Komets will host the Elmira Jackals (22-16-5, 49 points) Friday at 8pm. Saturday division rival Toledo (27-6-5, 59 points) will be in town for a 7:30pm faceoff. The Komets and Walleye head into the weekend tied for first place in the Eastern Conference. Toledo will host Cincinnati Friday before traveling to Fort Wayne Saturday.Pink the Rink Weekend-- This weekend will feature the fourth annual "Pink the Rink" nights as the Komets and the Vera Bradley Foundation team to fight breast cancer and promote awareness for early detection and treatment. The Komets will wear special jerseys that will be sold during a silent auction during Friday's game against the Elmira Jackals and Saturday's match against the Toledo Walleye.
