Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Tuesday that forward Thomas Frazee has been traded to the Evansville IceMen for center Matt Lowry.
Lowry, 26, was in his second season with Evansville, skating in all 41 games to date scoring seven goals and ranking third with 25 points while serving 58 penalty minutes. Last year the center ranked third on the IceMen with 16 goals and added 23 assists for 39 points in 53 games. Lowry also skated 19 AHL games with Bridgeport dishing two assists. Prior to turning pro the Neepawa, Manitoba native logged four years of juniors play in the WHL skating stints with Medicine Hat and Brandon, winning the 2007 WHL Championship with Medicine Hat. Lowry took a break from the pros and spent two years at the University of Manitoba (CIS) where he appeared in 56 games totaling 16 goals and 41 points. Frazee, 24, began the season with the Komets and scored 12 goals, 21 points and 24 penalty minutes in 38 games.
The Komets return home this week for a double-header Friday and Saturday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Komets will host the Elmira Jackals (21-16-5, 47 points) Friday at 8pm. Saturday division rival Toledo (27-6-5, 59 points) will be in town for what could be a battle for first place in the Eastern Conference. Pink the Rink Weekend-- This weekend will feature the fourth annual "Pink the Rink" nights as the Komets and the Vera Bradley Foundation team to fight breast cancer and promote awareness for early detection and treatment. The Komets will wear special jerseys that will be sold during a silent auction during Friday's game against the Elmira Jackals and Saturday's match against the Toledo Walleye.
