Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets collected five points in three games for week 13 of 2014-15 and improved to 26-6-3 for an ECHL-best 55 points after 13 weeks and 35 games. -ECHL Standings-
Friday the Komets started the week with the first of a pair of games at Greenville, repelling the Road Warriors 4-1 in the first visit ever by Fort Wayne. Shawn Szydlowski started the scoring for the Komets before Christian Ouellet netted a pair. Garrett Meurs also marked for Fort Wayne. -Gamesheet-
Saturday the Komets earned a point as the Warriors answered with a 3-2 shootout victory. Cody Sol and Mike Embach scored for the Komets during regulation and Matthew Pistilli netted the lone Fort Wayne shootout tally. The Komets completed the season series at 1-1-1 after three meetings against Greenville. -Gamesheet-Sunday the Komets iced their three-game trip to the South with a 4-3 win on their only visit of the season to Gwinnett. It was Fort Wayne's league-high 16th road win of the season. Fort Wayne scoring all came from the sticks of defensemen. Ian Barteaux scored a pair while Drew Daniels and William Lacasse contributed goals. Goaltender Roman Will was unbeaten for the week (1-0-1) allowing three goals for a 1.45 goals-against average and .962 save percentage after starting both games at Greenville. Netminder Pat Nagle returned to the Komets after a brief call-up to Rochester of the AHL and earned the win at Gwinnett Sunday on 37 saves, improving to 17-4-1.Player notables-- Ouellet scored his first two-goal game of the season Friday at Greenville....Pistilli's shootout marker Saturday at Greenville gives him a team-high 4/6 in the shootout for 66.7%.....Embach had points in each game of the week for a three-game point streak (1g 3a).....Barteaux' two goals Sunday at Gwinnett were his first two pro goals.....Daniels scored his first goal of the season on the power play Sunday at Gwinnett.....Goaltender Will has a four-game unbeaten streak (2-0-2).....Netminder Pat Nagle has a three-game win streak and ranks second among ECHL goaltenders with 17 wins.

Iron men-- Three defensemen have appeared in all 35 games to date including Martin, Daniels and Sol.Which way did he go-- The Komets have two players on loan to American Hockey League clubs, both called-up last week. Eric Faille has skated two games at Texas since joining the Stars last Wednesday and Komet leading scorer Shawn Szydlowski was sent to Binghamton where he appeared in one game with the Senators at Manchester Saturday night. Goaltender Pat Nagle returned to the Komets in time to start Sunday's game at Gwinnett after backstopping Rochester Jan. 3 at Adirondack.35 and counting-- The Komets have matched the team's all-time record mark of 35 games without back-to-back regulation losses. The Komets, under head coach Greg Puhalski, were 18-10-7 without posting back-to-back regulation losses in 2001-02 before losing games 36 and 37. The Komets are 25-6-3 and have avoided back-to-back regulation losses this year after 35 games.
The week ahead (Home games Friday and Sunday)Friday, Evansville visits-- The Komets will return to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Friday at 8pm when the Evansville IceMen (11-19-4, 26 points) visit under the direction of their new head coach, and former Komet head coach, Al Sims. It will be Sims' first time behind the bench at the Memorial Coliseum since his last game with the Komets March 30, 2013 when he coached a 4-2 win over Kalamazoo. The Komets lead the season series against Evansville 4-1-0 and have won both previous IceMen visits. Friday's match will be the sixth of nine meetings this season. The remaining four meetings are all at Fort Wayne. The division rival IceMen trail the first-place Komets by 29 points and are 2-1-0 under the direction of Sims after splitting a two-game set at Wichita last weekend. Evansville is 2-6-0 their last eight games. The IceMen skate at Cincinnati Wednesday before making the trip to Fort Wayne Friday. Saturday at Kalamazoo, Sunday Kalamazoo at Komets-- The Komets skate at Kalamazoo (13-15-2, 28 points) Saturday night at 7:30 before hosting the Wings Sunday at 5pm to complete the home-and-home series over the weekend. The weekend features the eighth and ninth meetings out of 15 this year between the Komets and Wings. The Komets lead the series 6-1-0. Division rival Kalamazoo holds fifth place in the North, trailing the Komets by 27 points after 30 games. The Wings are riding a three-game winning streak heading into the week and will visit Cincinnati Friday before hosting the Komets Saturday.
