Martin named ECHL All-Star Starter

Fort Wayne, IN-- The ECHL announced Wednesday that Fort Wayne defenseman James Martin will be in the starting lineup for the 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic to be held Jan 21 in Orlando.Martin leads ECHL defensemen with 21 assists and 27 points after 32 games. He also leads defensemen with 10 power-play assists and ranks second with 11 power-play points. Martin leads Komet defensemen with six goals and has appeared in all 32 games to date. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is in his fourth pro year, second in the ECHL and first with the Komets. During his career Martin has logged 35 AHL games (2g, 2a) with Abbotsford and 11 goals, 46 assists and 55 points in 127 ECHL games.Also starting alongside Martin in the 2015 ECHL All-Star Game will be defenseman Collin Bowman of Colorado. Forward starters are Tyler Barnes of Toledo, Riley Brace of Wheeling and Jack Combs of Allen. Starting goaltender is Ontario's Joe Cannata. ECHL coaches, team captains, media relations directors, broadcasters and media members vote to determine the starting lineup. The remainder of the 2015 All-Star Team will be announced Thursday by the ECHL.

The week ahead-- The Komets are heading south this week for three games in three nights against East Division foes. The week begins with the Komets' first ever trip to Greenville (21-12-1, 43 points) for a pair of games Friday and Saturday at 7:00 each night at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena (7,044). Both games will air on WOWO AM 1190 and FM 92.3.

Sunday the Komets finish the week with a 2:05pm matinee at Gwinnett (10-19-1, 21 points). It's the only trip of the season to The Arena at Gwinnett Center (11,355) in Duluth, Georgia and the first of three meetings this season. Gwinnett will visit Fort Wayne for a pair of games Feb. 20 and 21. The game will air on ESPN Radio AM 1380 and FM 106.7.

Next home games-- The Komets will return to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Friday, Jan. 16 at 8pm when the Evansville IceMen visit under the direction of their new head coach, and former Komet head coach, Al Sims. The Komets will then skate at Kalamazoo Saturday night, Jan. 17 before hosting the Wings on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 5pm.

KIDS SEAT FREE Sunday, Jan. 18-- The Komets will host Kalamazoo on another Kids Seat Free Night, courtesy Aunt Millie's, Parkview Health and the Komets on Sunday, Jan. 18. Any child under the age of 12 can see the game for free with a full-priced adult ticket purchase. Fans are also invited to bring their skates for a free postgame skate courtesy Wendy's.Friday night, Jan. 16, Marathon Night-- Plan ahead as the Komets continue to provide affordable ticket options this year with the Marathon Fill-Up Card for all Friday night games during the regular season. Fans can earn a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer with the purchase of three fill-ups at any participating Marathon location. Save with your Marathon Fill-Up Card for the Komets' next Friday night home game Jan. 16, when Evansville visits at 8pm.
