Fort Wayne, IN-- The ECHL announced Tuesday that Fort Wayne's Roman Will has been named the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Jan. 5-11.Will appeared in two games (1-0-1) and posted a 1.45 goals-against average and .962 save percentage. The Litomerice, Czech Republic native backstopped the Komets to a 4-1 win in the first of a two-game set at Greenville Friday making 39 saves on 40 shots. Will extended his unbeaten streak (in regulation) to four games (2-0-2) Saturday making 37 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Road Warriors.Will made his North America pro debut this season appearing in six games with Lake Erie in the AHL before his first reassignment to Fort Wayne. Under contract with the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, Will is on his second assignment in Fort Wayne. He has an overall 2.57 goals-against average and .927 save percentage in six games with the Komets this season. Will has also logged a total of 11 games with Lake Erie.Will becomes the sixth Komet to be honored with the league's weekly awards. Matthew Pistilli, Mitchell Heard, Garrett Meurs, Shawn Szydlowski and Thomas Frazee have also received Player of the Week awards this season.
Komets home Friday and Sunday-- The Komets will return to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Friday at 8pm when the Evansville IceMen (11-19-4, 26 points) visit under the direction of their new head coach, and former Komet head coach, Al Sims.
