Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets are on the road in Wheeling, West Virginia this weekend for a pair of games against the Nailers Friday and Saturday at 7:35pm each night at the WesBanco Arena (5,344). The Nailers (18-18-0, 36 points) are in fourth place in the North Division and trail the first-place Komets (27-8-3, 57 points) by 21 points. The Komets are 0-0-1 against the Nailers after one meeting this season, a 5-4 shootout loss at the Memorial Coliseum Jan. 2 in Wheeling's only visit of the season. The games this weekend will complete the season series and will be broadcast on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and FM 92.3 with Shane Albahrani standing in for Bob Chase. All Komet radio broadcasts can also be heard worldwide on the web at Komets.com presented by OmniSource Radio Recycle. The games will also air on MyTV in Fort Wayne.

24 of the 28 ECHL teams will return to action Friday following this week's break for the CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic in Orlando. The All-Star game was held Wednesday night as defensemen James Martin represented Fort Wayne as a starter and the team's captain. The ECHL All-Stars skated against the Orlando Solar Bears and collected an 8-4 win in front of 9,288 at the Amway Center.The Komets will return to action at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum next week when they host the Elmira Jackals Friday, Jan. 30 at 8pm before welcoming the Toledo Walleye Saturday night, Jan. 31 at 7:30. It will be a "Pink the Rink" weekend as the Komets and the Vera Bradley Foundation partner in the effort to fight breast cancer and promote awareness. The Komets will wear one-of-a-kind pink jerseys which will be sold in an auction as part of the fund-raising weekend.Szydlowski returns-- The Komets announced today that right wing Shawn Szydlowski is expected to return to the Fort Wayne lineup in time for this weekend's trip to Wheeling. Szydlowski was called up to the AHL's Binghamton Senators Jan. 10 and appeared in three games before his release Thursday. Szydlowski leads the Komets with 19 goals, four power play markers and ranks second with 39 points after appearing in Fort Wayne's first 33 games of the season prior to his call-up.
