Szydlowski rejoins Komets at Orlando

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced today that leading scorer Shawn Szydlowski has been released from his PTO with Lake Erie of the AHL and has returned to the Fort Wayne lineup. Szydlowski skated one game with the Monsters during his most recent call up to the AHL. He also logged three games during an earlier call up to the AHL's Binghamton Senators Jan. 10.The St. Clair Shores, Michigan native missed three Fort Wayne games during his stint with Lake Erie. Szydlowski leads the Komets with 21 goals and has dished 24 assists for 45 points in 38 games. The right winger has points in nine of his last 11 Komet games and five of his last six. Szydlowski is in his fourth pro year and second with the Komets.The Komets also announced today that left wing Reid Petryk has been reassigned to Lake Erie. Petryk has recorded five assists in 26 games with Fort Wayne.

The Komets (31-12-3 65 points) are at Orlando (24-16-3, 51 points) for back-to-back games beginning with a 7:30pm faceoff tonight at the Amway Center (9,555). The Komets will complete the double-header at Orlando Saturday night at 7:00. Both games will be aired on WOWO AM 1190 and FM 92.3 with Shane Albahrani calling the play-by-play. Next at home-- The Komets return home next week to host three games in four nights. Division rival Toledo visits Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30pm. The Gwinnett Gladiators be in town for back-to-back games Friday, Feb. 20, at 8pm and Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7:30pm. OmniSource Season Ticket Recycling Night Wednesday, Feb. 18-- Season ticket holders have a chance to exchange their unused season tickets from previous games of the season for tickets to see the Komets face the Toledo Walleye Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30pm, compliments of OmniSource.PHP Report Card Night coming Saturday, Feb. 21-- PHP Report Card Night is Saturday, Feb. 21, when the Komets host Gwinnett at 7:30pm. All area students who receive at least one “A” on their report card are rewarded with a free ticket to the game courtesy of PHP. Students may present a copy of their report card with an “A” or “A equivalent” or a letter from their teacher or school administrator indicating an acceptable level of academic success at the Coliseum Ticket Office in order to get their ticket. Students in attendance on Feb. 21 may also register to win $1,000 towards their future educational goals. Tickets can be claimed anytime in advance of the game.
