Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Monday that Eric Faille has been released from his professional tryout agreement with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Texas Stars.
Faille (FYE), 25, appeared in 21 games with the Stars scoring two goals, six points and an even plus/minus while accumulating two penalty minutes. The rookie center was loaned to Texas Jan. 7 and made his AHL debut Jan. 9.Faille made his pro debut with the Komets this year skating the first 32 games of the season and ranked second among ECHL rookies with 16 goals and 32 points. Also, the Lachine, Quebec native was riding a four-game point-scoring streak (4g, 2a) at the time of his call-up.
The Komets have logged 27 games since Faille's last appearance with Fort Wayne Jan. 4 at the Toledo Winterfest outdoor game where the skater dished an assist on the Komets' first goal of a 3-2 win.When Faille was called up to Texas the Komets held first place in the ECHL with a 24-6-2 (.781) record. The Komets are 15-8-4 (.596) during Faille's absence and continue to hold first place in the North Division with 84 points and 13 regular season games remaining.Faille is expected to return to Fort Wayne in time to participate in Tuesday morning's practice at SportONE/Parkview Icehouse (10am-11:30am).
This week the Komets will skate four games in five nights. Wednesday the Komets travel to Indy for a 7:05pm faceoff at Fairgrounds Coliseum. Friday the Komets meet the K-Wings at Kalamazoo at 7:30pm. Saturday the Komets kick-off a weekend home double-header against the Missouri Mavericks at 7:30pm. Sunday the Komets face the Mavericks in the last Sunday matinee of the season at 5pm at the Memorial Coliseum.
Prostate Cancer Awareness Weekend-- This weekend is Prostate Cancer Awareness Weekend when the Komets host Missouri Saturday and Sunday. The Komets will wear blue throwback jerseys of the '80's in both games.
