Komets announce signing of Aaron Clarke

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets officially announced Tuesday that Aaron Clarke has agreed to terms and will be returning to the Fort Wayne roster for the remainder of 2014-15.

Clarke, 32, may make his season debut this Friday when the Komets host the Kalamazoo Wings. The left winger posted four goals and nine points in 25 games with Kalamazoo last year before being traded to Toledo where he scored 13 goals and 19 points in 26 games prior to joining the Komets. Clarke appeared in Fort Wayne's final 15 regular season games scoring seven goals and adding 10 assists for 17 points. The veteran skater capped the season appearing in all eleven playoff games amassing three goals and four assists to rank third on the Komets with seven post-season points.

After splitting a four-year collegiate career in the NCAA with Niagara University and Robert Morris University, Clark made his pro debut in 2007-08 skating 60 ECHL games with Wheeling (19g, 17a). 2008-09 marked his AHL debut appearing in seven games with Binghamton, three games with Providence and 22 games with Albany while also scoring 11 goals and 37 points in 40 ECHL games with Wheeling. Clarke registered career highs of 25 goals and 57 points in 59 games with Wheeling during 2009-10 before joining Kalamazoo the following year and helping the Wings to the 2011 ECHL Finals. In 2011-12 the Peterborough, Ontario native notched 16 goals and 52 points in 38 games with Belfast and captured the EIHL Championship with the Giants. 2012-13 marked Clarke's return to the ECHL and the Wings in Kalamazoo where he logged 19 goals and 56 points appearing in all 72 games. The veteran has amassed ECHL totals of 119 goals, 159 assists and 278 points in 364 games.Wings visit Friday-- This Friday the Komets will start a home-and-home series against division rival Kalamazoo (25-23-5, 55 points) with an 8pm faceoff at the Coliseum. Saturday the Komets complete the weekend series with a 7:30pm faceoff at Kalamazoo.TIP-A-KOMET tonight at Applebee's-- The Komets invite all fans to the Tip-A-Komet benefit at Applebee’s North Clinton location by the Coliseum tonight from 6:30-8:00. Fans have a chance to be served dinner by a Komet player as the entire team will be on-hand for the special night at Applebee’s. All tips benefit Applebee’s Make-A-Wish Foundation Fundraising efforts and the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. Fans are invited to take photos and get autographs while watching previous Komet games at the Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery.
