Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets opened the best-of-seven second round series with a 4-1 setback Friday night at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo.
The Komets battled Toledo to a 0-0 deadlock through the first period of play. The Walleye managed a pair of goals by Tyler Barnes and Justin Daniels in the second period before Matt Lowry scored a short-handed goal at 16:40 to pull the Komets within one going into the second intermission.In the third frame Toledo held the Komets scoreless while forward Kyle Bonis netted a pair, including an empty net goal, to give the Walleye game one of the best-of-seven series. Goaltender Roman Will suffered the loss for Fort Wayne making 26 saves on 29 shots. Jeff Lerg earned the win for the Walleye allowing one goal on 22 shots.-Gamesheet-
Game 2 will face off Saturday at 7:35pm at Toledo before the series switches to Fort Wayne and the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for games 3 and 4. Game 3 is Tuesday, May 5 at 7:30pm. Game 4 will be Thursday, May 7 at 7:30pm.
If necessary game 5 will be at Toledo Saturday, May 9. Both teams return to Fort Wayne for game 6, if needed, Sunday, May 10. Game 7 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 at Toledo if necessary.
