Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Monday that forward Eric Faille has been dealt to Orlando in exchange for forward Brock Montgomery.
Montgomery, 23, skated 45 ECHL games with Orlando last year scoring 13 goals and 24 assists and ranked fourth on the Solar Bears with 37 points. The Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan native made his pro debut in 2013-14 appearing in six AHL games with Texas while adding 45 ECHL games with Idaho (9g, 24pts). Prior to turning pro Montgomery logged four years with Kootenay in the WHL. The forward helped the Ice win the WHL championship during his second year of juniors in 2010-11. Montgomery completed juniors in 2012-13 ranking second on the Ice with 31 goals and third with 48 points.Faille will be joining the Solar Bears after splitting last season between the Komets and Texas (AHL). Faille scored 27 goals and 54 points in 45 games with Fort Wayne and registered two goals and six points in 21 games with Texas.The Komets also announced that forward Mike Montagna has accepted an invitation to the Fort Wayne training camp. Montagna, 23, completed a four-year collegiate career last season appearing in 28 games with Oswego in the State University New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) ranking second on the Lakers with 14 goals and third with 30 points while being named to the All-SUNYAC Third Team.
The Fort Wayne preseason roster grows to 18 players and includes one goaltender, six defensemen and 11 forwards.
Home opener Oct. 17-- The 64th season of Komet hockey starts with a home-and-home series against long time rival Kalamazoo. The Komets skate at Kalamazoo Friday, Oct. 16 for the season opener.
