Five players reassigned to Komet Camp from San Antonio

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Tuesday that their AHL affiliate, San Antonio, has reassigned five players to Fort Wayne.

Brett Perlini (C), Alex Belzile (RW), Justin Hamonic (D), Trevor Cheek (F) and Garrett Meurs (RW) have been sent to the Komets and added to the preseason roster.Perlini, 25, will be returning to the Fort Wayne lineup after scoring 17 goals and 31 points in 57 games last season with the Komets.Belzile (bell-ZEEL), 24, skated 63 games with Idaho in the ECHL last season and was second in scoring with 69 points, posting career highs of 28 goals, 41 assists and 113 penalty minutes while leading Idaho with +24.Hamonic (HAMM-en-ick), 21, was acquired by the Komets from Alaska this summer in exchange for future considerations. Hamonic made his pro debut last season appearing in four games with Alaska after completing a four-year stint with Tri-City in the WHL.Cheek, 22, will be entering his third pro year after skating the last two seasons with Lake Erie in the AHL.

Meurs (MEERS) 22, is starting his third pro year after splitting last season with the Komets and Lake Erie. Meurs scored 12 goals and added 10 assists for 22 points in 30 games with Fort Wayne before appearing in 10 playoff games adding three goals and six points.

Home opener Oct. 17-- The 64th season of Komet hockey opens with a home-and-home series against long time rival Kalamazoo. The season opener is slated for Kalamazoo Friday, Oct. 16 before the Komets' home opener against the Wings Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7:30pm.
