Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets opened training camp for their 64th anniversary season Monday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Gary Graham enters his third season as Head Coach of the Komets. Graham launched his camp with 28 players on the preseason roster and has enlisted the services of Konstantin Shafranov as assistant coach for the second consecutive full season. Camp will be held at the Coliseum with the first practice session scheduled for 3pm-5pm Monday. -See Komets Roster-
Camp will held for two weeks and includes three exhibition games. The Komets will skate at Indy Wednesday, Oct. 7 in a preseason match against the Fuel at 6pm at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The Komets will host two exhibition games against the Evansville IceMen Friday, Oct. 9 at 8pm and Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7:30pm. The camp schedule is listed below.
2015-16 marks the Komets' fourth season as a member of the ECHL. The Komets will be seated in the Midwest Division of the 28-team circuit with Indiana rivals Evansville and Indy along with Cincinnati and Quad City. The ECHL will be divided into six total divisions. In addition to the Midwest Division, the Central Division and West Division make up the Western Conference while the North, East and South divisions are in the Eastern Conference.Earlier this summer the Komets and the NHL's Colorado Avalanche announced a renewed affiliation with a new two-year agreement covering 2015-16 and 2016-17. The Komets and the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL will serve as affiliates of the Avalanche. Last year San Antonio captured the West Division title in the AHL's Western Conference while setting franchise records of wins, goals and points in a season. Last season the Komets reached the 100-point plateau for the first time since 2009-10 for a successful debut as an affiliate of Colorado. Game times-- The Komets will continue with game times of 7:30pm for home games Monday through Thursday and on Saturdays. Friday home games will faceoff at 8pm and Sunday games start at 5pm.Chaser returns for number 63-- Legendary broadcaster Bob Chase will be returning for his 63rd season broadcasting Komet Hockey radio rinkside. Chase will again work most Komet games, however Shane Albahrani will cover a select number of road games in Chase's absence. Fans will be able to follow the action on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and FM 92.3. All broadcasts will also be available on the web at www.komets.com, presented by OmniSource Radio Recycle.
Komets return to MyTV-- Live telecasts of a dozen select Komet road games will continue for the third consecutive season this year on MyTV. Games will be aired on the station's Fort Wayne digital and cable channels including digital channel 33.2 and cable channels Comcast SD 18 and 252, Comcast HD 1018, Direct TV 34, Frontier SD 9 and Frontier HD 509. 21Alive's Tommy Schoegler and Kent Hormann will again share play-by-play duties.
Soundoff With The Komets continues on 21Alive-- Schoegler will also host Soundoff With The Komets for the fifth straight season, premiering on Monday, Oct. 12 on 21Alive. Soundoff With The Komets will be telecast live from SportOne/Parkview IceHouse each Monday night at 7:30 throughout the year.

Home opener Oct. 17-- The 64th season of Komet hockey opens with a home-and-home series against long time rival Kalamazoo. The season opener is slated for Kalamazoo Friday, Oct. 16 before the Komets' home opener against the Wings Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7:30pm. Single game tickets for all 36 home games and the two home exhibition games are on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at TicketMaster.com.
