Fort Wayne, IN-- The ECHL announced Tuesday that Komet left winger Mike Embach has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 21-27.Embach scored three points (1g, 2a) and was +4 in the two games played last week. The Orland Park, Illinois native dished an assist in the Komets 4-0 win against Atlanta Monday and added a game winning marker and an assist in a 5-2 Fort Wayne home win over Kalamazoo Saturday. Embach finished the week riding a four-game point-scoring streak (3g, 2a).
Embach leads the Komets with 11 goals and has a team-high 22 points while appearing in all 25 games to date and has led the Komets in a current three-game win streak. The skater is in his third season with Fort Wayne and fifth as a pro.
The Komets will skate four games in five nights this New Year's holiday week as they finish 2015 and welcome in 2016. Tonight the Komets host Brampton at 7:30pm and will welcome Indy for New Year's Eve at 7:30pm. The Komets will then skate at Indy on New Year's Day at 7:30pm. The Komets cap the busy week with a 7:15pm faceoff at Toledo Saturday.
