Week nine yields three points

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets gained three points in week nine of 2015-16 and approach week 10 with an overall record of 11-9-1 and 23 points after 21 games. Fort Wayne moved into third place in the Midwest Division of the ECHL's Western Conference and trails first-place Quad City by eight points.

About last week-- Friday the Komets fell 3-2 in overtime to the visiting Indy Fuel. It was Fort Wayne's first overtime loss in four games needing the extra session this season.

Saturday the Komets turned the tables on the Fuel with a 3-2 win at Indy to take a 3-1-1 series lead with six meetings remaining. It was Fort Wayne's third straight road win. The Komets improve to 4-1-1 in one-goal games this year.In the first of four Sunday home games the Komets were upended 6-4 by the IceMen who were making their first of three visits this season. It was the first time Fort Wayne has been winless in two straight home games this year. Evansville evened the series at 1-1-0 with four meetings remaining.

Streaking Komets-- Goaltender Spencer Martin made his third straight road start count Saturday by extending his win streak to three games with a 3-2 win at Indy on 31 saves.....Drew Daniels pushed his road point-scoring streak (2g, 3a) to four games with a goal Saturday at Indy and now has points in each road appearance this season.....Garrett Thompson has a three-game road point streak (2g, 3a).....Brett Perlini had points in each game of the week for a four-game point-scoring streak (2g, 3a).Milestones-- Will Weber scored his first Fort Wayne goal and point, fourth career point overall, in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to Indy.....Shawn Szydlowski recorded his first two-goal game of the season Sunday and his ninth as a Komet.

Komet leaders-- Garrett Thompson has moved into a tie with Mike Embach, leading with 17 points.....Embach leads with eight goals and four power play markers....Thompson leads with 12 assists and six power play assists.....Daniels leads with +10.....Cody Sol leads with 47 penalty minutes.....Perlini leads with 84 shots.

THE WEEK AHEAD...home for the holidays!

The Komets will skate three home games in four nights prior to the Christmas break and will host one team each from the East, North and South divisions of the Eastern Conference.Manchester Monarchs (16-9-1, 33 points) at Komets (11-9-1, 23 points) Friday, 8pm-- Friday the Manchester Monarchs make their Fort Wayne debut at 8pm. It's the first ever visit to Fort Wayne by a team from Manchester, New Hampshire and will be the only meeting of the season. Manchester is 3-1-1 in their last five games and 7-2-1 in their last 10. The Monarchs lead the East Division and rank fourth overall in the ECHL after going 1-1-1 this past weekend. Manchester skates at Kalamazoo Thursday before making the trip to Fort Wayne Friday.Brampton Beast (8-14-2, 18 points) at Komets Saturday, 7:30pm-- Saturday the Komets host the Brampton Beast at 7:30pm faceoff. It's the first of two visits this season by Brampton. It's the second meeting of four. The Beast lead the series 1-0-0 after shutting out the Komets 2-0 at Brampton Nov. 22. Brampton resides in the cellar of the North Division and trails first-place Wheeling by 11 points. The Beast enter the week riding a four-game winless streak (0-3-1) and will host Toledo Thursday before visiting Fort Wayne Saturday.Atlanta Gladiators (13-9-1, 27 points) at Komets Monday, 7:30pm-- Monday, Dec. 21, the Komets welcome the Atlanta Gladiators at 7:30pm for the only meeting of the year. Last season the Komets were undefeated in three meetings with the Gladiators (Gwinnett). Atlanta holds third place in the South Division and trails first-place Florida by nine points. The Gladiators 4-2-0 in their last six games and will face the IceMen at Evansville Wednesday and skate a pair of games at Kalamazoo Friday and Saturday before appearing in Fort Wayne for a rare Monday night game.See the Komets Wednesday at Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery in Jefferson Pointe. Friday night Marathon Nights-- Again this year Komet fans can save on their Friday night tickets with Marathon. Fans can earn a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer with the purchase of three fill-ups at any participating Marathon location. Save with your Marathon Fill-Up Card at the game this Friday when the Komets host the Manchester Monarchs at 8:00.Teddy Bear Toss Saturday-- Fans are invited to bring new or gently used stuffed animals to Saturday's home game against the Brampton Beast. The Komets' first goal of the game will be the signal for all stuffed animals to be tossed onto the ice where they will be collected and donated to the Disorderly Bear Den, a non-profit charity that collects stuffed animals for those in need.

The 30-minute live telecast is hosted by Tommy Schoegler from SportOne/Parkview IceHouse each Monday night at 7:30 throughout the season. Tonight's guest will be forward Kyle Thomas. Komets Christmas week office hours-- The Komet offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 23 through Friday, Dec. 25.
