Komet Super Heroes Night nets $9,600 for local charities

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Tuesday that $9,600 has been raised as part of their “Salute to Real Super Heroes Night” presented by The Hagerman Group on Saturday, January 16, 2016.

The Komets wore special “Super Hero Jerseys” for the game against Rapid City, which were auctioned via silent bids throughout the game. Real-life heroes from local Police, Fire, and EMS were recognized before the game and an intermission featured a broomball game between FWPD and FWFD. The first 1,000 kids under 12-years-old also received Super Hero Capes as the entered the arena courtesy of the Hagerman Group. Those kids all had the chance to get photos with their favorite Super Heroes, as Batman, Superman, Iron Man, Spiderman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, and Super Girl were all on-hand courtesy of Tag Art Company. The Hagerman Group underwrote the entire event, allowing FWPD, FWFD, and EMS to select the charities of their choice to be the benefactors of net proceeds from the event’s silent auction. FWPD selected the Victims Assistance Program, FWFD selected the Hoosier Burn Camp, and EMS selected The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. Each of the three charities selected will be receiving donations in the amount of $3,200 each for their respective causes… all courtesy of the generosity of Komet fans who purchased the jerseys and The Hagerman Group.“We’ve enjoyed many years of successful partnership with the Komets, but the creativity & collaboration of this event makes it one of our best to date!”, said Mr. Bruce Molter, President of Hagerman, Inc. “Not only were we able to participate with a fun theme for the fans, but most importantly, generate support for the selected charities of our friends at FWPD, FWFD and EMS. We’re certainly very proud to stand with our local “Super Heroes’” and honored to be included as benefits are shared with the community!”

A brief check presentation to each of the three groups from The Hagerman Group will take place during the next Komets Home Game on Friday, January 29th at 8pm against the Cincinnati Cyclones. Tickets to that game and the rest of the 2015-16 season schedule are available in person at the Memorial Coliseum Ticket Office or on-line at www.ticketmaster.com/Komets.
