Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Thursday that veteran forward Leo Thomas and goaltender Sean Bonar have been called up from the SPHL.Thomas, 34, skated with the Komets four seasons from 2008-09 through 2011-12 winning three league championships. In 2009-10 Thomas led the Komets with 33 goals and added 27 assists for 60 points in 72 games. The Toronto, Ontario native participated in the Komets 2015 training camp before starting the season with Mississippi in the SPHL where he has scored six goals and 12 points in 17 games.
Bonar (BAHN-uhr), 24, has been called up from Fayetteville of the SPHL where he has posted a 1.98 goals-against average and 9-3-0 record in 13 games. The Delta, British Columbia native also has appeared in five games this season with the ECHL's Brampton Beast (1-3-0, 3.54gaa). Bonar made his pro debut in the ECHL appearing in three games with Indy and two with Orlando last season while also adding four SPHL games with Fayetteville.
On the road this weekend-- The Komets will skate three road games in three nights this weekend starting with a pair of games at Cincinnati Friday and Saturday at 7:35 each night. Sunday the Komets visit intrastate rival Indy at 3:05pm. Report Card Night Feb. 6--The Komets present their second PHP Report Card Night of the year on Saturday, Feb. 6, when the Quad City Mallards visit for a 7:30pm faceoff. Students with an "A" or "A Equivalent" on their most recent report card earn a free ticket and a chance to win a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond for future education. Students can take their report card or a letter from their teacher showing an "A" or an "A equivalent" to the Coliseum Ticket Office between now and game night.
