The Komets announced Wednesday that they have added forward Louis Belisle and defenseman Austin Sevalrud to the roster in time for tonight’s game at Alaska.
Belisle (bell-EYE-ill), 25, started the season appearing in 30 SPHL games with Columbus before skating six games with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays. Belisle also added eight ECHL games with Wheeling before agreeing to terms with Fort Wayne. The forward completed a four-year collegiate career with Middlebury College (NESCA) in 2013-14 and skated 56 games with Columbus last season.Sevalrud (SEV-ahl-rudd), 24, is expected to make his pro debut tonight with the Komets when they skate against the Aces at Anchorage. Sevalrud has recently completed a four-year collegiate career with the University of Alaska-Anchorage. In 129 total WCHA games with the Seawolves the defensemen has scored four goals and 11 assists for 15 points.
The Komets also announced today the acquisition of forward Daniel Barczuk (BAR-chuck) in a trade with Rapid City in consideration for future considerations. The Livonia, Michigan native made his pro debut in 2012-13 in the CHL appearing in 48 games with Bloomington. Barczuk, 27, added 45 CHL games in 2013-14 with Denver before joining the Rush last season and scoring a career high 22 goals and accumulating a team high 125 penalty minutes. Barczuk has scored 12 goals and 18 points with Rapid City in 54 games this season.
Belisle and Sevalrud are expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Komets face the Aces in Alaska for the first of a three-game set at the Sullivan Arena. The Komets and Aces will battle Friday and again Saturday. All three games will start at 11:15pm ET.
No Fort Wayne broadcast from Alaska-- The Komet games this week at Alaska will not be aired on Fort Wayne radio or webcast at Komets.com. However, fans staying up late for the games will be able to tune in to Alaska's Kurt Haider with the broadcast on the internet at KFQD.com. Look for the play button on the top left of the main page of the website.
Komets return home for Quad City double-header-- The Komets will return home Friday, March 18 at 8pm for the first of a pair of home games against the Mallards with the rematch Saturday, March 19 at 7:30pm. It will be the first of five straight home games in nine days.
