Fort Wayne, IN-- The first two games of the Komets vs. Cincinnati Western Conference quarterfinals are in the books and now moves to the U.S. Bank Arena (6,955) in downtown Cincinnati for games 3, 4 and 5.

The first round series started in Fort Wayne Friday and Saturday with Cincinnati collecting a 2-0 series lead. The Cyclones scored 3-2 victories in each game. The Komets outshot the Cyclones Friday 35-23 but Cincy goaltender Brad Thiessen scored the playoff win stopping 33 shots. Komet netminder Pat Nagle suffered the loss making 20 saves on 23 shots. The Komets earned goals from Troy Bourke and Trevor Cheek while Jack Downing notched his first of the playoffs and Tom Mele added a pair for the win.

Saturday the Komets opened the scoring with Garrett Thompson's first pro playoff goal at 5:46 of the first period before Cincinnati answered with markers from Andrew Yogan and Zach Budish in the second session. Fort Wayne's Kyle Thomas notched his first pro playoff goal at 14:10 of the third but Christiaan Minella hit the game winner with 33 seconds remaining to seal a 2-0 series advantage for Cincinnati. Nagle suffered the loss making 17 saves on 20 shots. Thiessen logged the win on 31 saves.

The Komets will practice at the Coliseum Tuesday at 10am and then head for Cincinnati where the series continues with game 3 Wednesday. Game 4 is Friday and game 5 is slated for Saturday. All games this week at Cincinnati face off at 7:35pm. If games 6 and 7 are necessary, they will be skated in Fort Wayne Monday, April 25 and Wednesday April 27 at 7:30 each night.
