Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets will face long-time rival Kalamazoo this weekend in a home-and-home series starting Friday night at Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo at 7pm. Both teams will make the trip back to Fort Wayne for a Saturday night faceoff on Sweetwater Ice at the Memorial Coliseum at 7:30pm.

The Komets are coming off a successful home-and-home series against Quad City to open the season last weekend and are 2-0-0 heading into the second week of 2016-17. Kalamazoo also scored a pair of victories to open the season.The Komets were 7-1-0 in eight meetings last season against the Wings, and a perfect 4-0-0 at Wings Event Center (5,113). Both teams are idle until they meet Friday. Fort Wayne and Kalamazoo have been rivals since 1974 and their first meeting on Nov. 15 when the Komets clipped the Wings at Kalamazoo 2-1. The very first time Kalamazoo visited Fort Wayne was on Christmas day 42 years ago. The Komets celebrated the holiday with an 8-2 win. The Komets are 211-149-50 all-time against Kalamazoo after 410 regular season meetings.

Vail heads for Rochester-- Center Brady Vail has received a call-up from Rochester of the AHL and has signed a professional tryout contract with the Americans. Vail opened the season appearing in both Fort Wayne ECHL games scoring two goals and three points. The third-year pro has skated 22 games in the AHL in stints with Hamilton and Toronto over his first two seasons as a pro.Embach placed on 21-day I.R.-- Forward Mike Embach has been placed on 21-day injured reserve, effective Oct. 14. Embach ranked second last season with the Komets scoring 23 goals, 30 assists and 53 points in 54 games.

Forward Andy Huff added to roster-- The Komets announced today that forward Andy Huff has agreed to terms and has been added to the roster. Huff, 24, will be entering his third pro year after appearing in 64 games with Wichita last season scoring 11 goals and 26 points. The right winger made his pro debut in 2014-15 splitting the season with Idaho, Rapid City and Florida. The Howell, Michigan native completed a four-year collegiate career with Ferris State in 2013-14 and was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team. Huff also helped the Bulldogs to a CCHA regular season championship in 2011-12.

Road game date change-- The Komets game originally scheduled for Friday, March 3 at Quad City has been moved to Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7:35pm ET.Free Komets Magnetic Schedules this Saturday-- 5,000 Komet magnetic schedules will be handed out to fans arriving at the game this Saturday at the Coliseum when the Komets host Kalamazoo at 7:30pm. Get to the game early for your Komets magnetic schedule.

See the Komets Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery in Jefferson Pointe. Komet legendary mascot Icy D. Eagle will be on hand with several Komet players for photos, autographs, great food, friends and fun! Also meet Komet captain and player-assistant coach Jamie Schaafsma along with forward Mike Embach and goaltender Pat Nagle.

Kids Seat Free-- Once again this season the Komets will feature Kids Seat Free Nights. The first Kids Seat Free Night of the season is slated for Friday, Oct. 28 courtesy Aunt Millie's, Parkview Health and the Komets. Any child under the age of 12 can see the game for free with a full-priced adult ticket purchase.

Komets on the air-- Komet games are scheduled to air this season on WOWO AM 1190 and FM 107.5. All Komet radio broadcasts can also be heard worldwide as presented by Omni Source Radio Recycle at www.komets.com.
