Defenseman Bobby Shea returns from AHL

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Friday that defenseman Bobby Shea has been released from his AHL PTO with Rochester and has returned to the Fort Wayne lineup.

Shea (Shay), 26, signed his PTO with Rochester on Dec. 28, and registered a +3 and accumulated seven penalty minutes in his brief AHL stint with the Americans. Shea started the season with the Komets and scored three goals and 14 points in 18 games prior to his Rochester call-up. 2016-17 is the defenseman's fourth pro year since completing a four-year college career with Bowling Green in 2012-13.

The Komets also announced Friday that defenseman Ryan Lowney has signed a professional tryout and may be in the lineup this weekend when the Komets skate at Indy. Lowney, 23, recently completed a four-year collegiate career with Ferris State University. The Redford, Michigan native finished the season scoring 15 assists and 17 points in 37 games. Last year he was on board for an appearance in the NCAA Regional Final as well as the Bulldog's first WCHA Tournament Championship. Lowney finished with collegiate totals of seven goals, 51 assists and 58 points in 158 games.
