Komets drop game four 3-2 in OT

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets rallied from two-goal deficits for victories several times during the regular season and in the first game of the current Central Division semifinals series against Quad City. But Friday night it was not to be. After giving up two goals to the Mallards the Komets rallied to tie the game but Quad City prevailed in overtime 3-2 to survive another day.

Quad City scored early with Josh MacDonald's second goal of the post season at 31 seconds into the first period through a screen.

In the second period, the Mallards struck early again at 1:12 before Jason Binkley finally solved Mallard goaltender C.J. Motte at 4:46 to cut Quad City's lead in half. Jamie Schaafsma knotted the game at 2-2 with his second of the playoffs at 9:29.

After a scoreless third period, the Mallards staved off elimination when Sam Warning scooped up a rebound and deposited his second marker of the playoffs into an open net with 16 seconds remaining in overtime for a 3-2 Quad City victory.

Pat Nagle suffered his first loss of the playoffs in his fourth straight start stopping 36 of 39 shots. Motte earned the win making 36 saves on 38 shots,.

The Komets were 1/3 on the power play while killing off all five Quad City power plays.

Game 5 will be held tonight (Saturday) at Quad City at 8:05pm Fort Wayne time. The Komets are now leading the best-of-seven series 3 games to 1 and can close it out and advance to the second round with a win tonight.
