Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets fell 5-0 Saturday at Toledo as the Walleye eliminated Fort Wayne in the ECHL Central Division finals best-of-seven series 4-1.
The Komets directed 24 shots at the Walleye net in game 5 as Toledo goaltender Jeff Lerg snagged his first shutout of the 2017 playoffs. Simon Denis led the Walleye with a pair of goals while Tyler Spink, A.J. Jenks and Tyson Spink each contributed markers. Toledo advances to the Western Conference finals against the winner of the Allen-Colorado series.
Komet goaltender Pat Nagle suffered the loss making 23 saves on 28 shots in his ninth post-season appearance.
The annual Komets End-of-Season Party and Jersey Auction is set for this Tuesday, May 9, in the Appleseed Room at the Memorial Coliseum. Doors open at 6:30pm and the auction will start at 7pm. Admission is $5.00. However, season ticket holders and kids under 12 will be admitted free.
