Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets fell 3-2 to the visiting Kansas City Mavericks Saturday night to take a split of a home weekend double-header against the Mavs.
After dominating Kansas City 8-2 Friday at the Memorial Coliseum the Komets opened the scoring Saturday at 2:49 of the first on Ralph Cuddemi's first goal of the season before the Mavericks answered with three straight markers, two before the end of the first period and then one in the second.
Marco Roy pulled the Komets within one at 1:34 of the third frame. The Komets spent the remaining of the game trying to get the equalizer but to no avail after posting a total of 45 shots on the Kansas City net while allowing only 23.
Komet goaltender Garrett Bartus suffered the loss in his first start of the season making 20 saves on 23 shots. Tyler Parsons earned his second win of the season on 43 saves.
The Komets finish the week at 2-1-0 after the first three games of the season. The Komets next game is Friday, Oct. 27 when the Cincinnati Cyclones visit for an 8pm faceoff.
