Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets returned to action Friday night at the Memorial Coliseum and fell in overtime 3-2 to the visiting Cincinnati Cyclones.
After spotting the Cyclones with two goals in the second period following a scoreless first period, the Komets pulled within one with Artur Tyanulin's first ECHL marker at 19:22 of the second. Fort Wayne's Zac Larraza netted the equalizer at 3:43 of the third period for the only goal of the period to send the game into overtime. Both Tyanulis and Larraza were skating their first game with the Komets since their assignment to Fort Wayne this week.Cincinnati's Shawn O'Donnell made it a short extra session when the forward hit the net to complete the game and give the Cyclones their first win of the season.
Fort Wayne goaltender Michael Houser suffered the loss making 22 saves on 25 shots. Cincy's Anthony Peters earned the win allowing two goals on 24 shots.
Friday night's game was the only game of the week for the Komets as they prepare for three games in three days next weekend starting at home against Adirondack Friday, Nov. 3 at 8pm. Quad City visits for a 7:30pm faceoff Saturday, Nov. 4 before the Komets travel to Kalamazoo for a 3pm matinee Sunday, Nov. 5.
