Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets rocked the visiting Allen Americans with a 4-1 win Sunday at the Memorial Coliseum in front of 7,296. Combined with Saturday night's 5-3 win in front of a sell-out crowd the Komets swept the Americans to the delight of 17,775 Fort Wayne fans for the weekend.
This time the Komets were first on the board at 7:17 of the second period when Jamie Schaafsma finally solvedAllen netminder Jeremy Brodeur with his 11th goal of the season. Allen responded 49 seconds later when Casey Pierro-Zabotel pocketed the Americans only goal of the game.
The Komets gained the lead again at 12:37 of the second period as Artur Tyanulin tallied the eventual game winner. Dennis Kravchenko opened the third period with a marker at 10:17 and Louick Marcotte increased the Komets lead to 4-1 with his ninth goal of the season at 17:53. Goaltender Garrett Bartus logged his seventh win making 17 saves while Brodeur suffered the loss allowing four goals on 36 shots.
The Komets will skate three road games this week beginning with as 7:05pm faceoff at Indy Tuesday. Friday the Komets travel to Kalamazoo to face the Wings at 7pm. The Komets cap the week with a 7:35pm faceoff at Cincinnati Saturday.
The next Komet home game is Friday, Feb. 2 against the Rapid City Rush at 8pm.
