Komets sign veteran winger Garret Ross

Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets announced Friday that veteran skater Garret Ross has agreed to terms and has been added to the preseason roster.

Ross, 26, will be entering his sixth season as a pro after making his rookie season debut in the AHL in 2013-14. The Dearborn Heights, Michigan native added seven goals and 13 points to his pro totals last season while skating 51 AHL games with Rochester."Garret Ross brings the Komets a strong forward with plenty of AHL experience," Komet General Manager David Franke said. "He is a great addition to the 2018-19 Komet roster."

Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Ross finished a four-year juniors career with Saginaw in the OHL in 2012-13.

During his stint in the OHL the left winger was named a 2012-13 OHL Second Team All Star while serving as the Spirit's captain. He led the Spirit his final season with a career best 44 goals, 114 penalty minutes and ranking second with 90 points in 60 games.Ross logged three seasons with Rockford in the AHL from 2013-14. He posted a career year in 2014-15 scoring 21 goals, 22 assists and ranked second on the IceHogs with 43 points. His career has yielded 51 goals, 63 assists, 114 points and 397 penalty minutes in 288 AHL games.The Komets also announced that they have acquired the rights to forward Garrett Ladd from the Tulsa Oilers. Ladd, 29, will be entering his fourth pro year after skating last season with Tulsa. In 48 games Ladd logged a career best 21 goals, 25 assists and ranked third on the Oilers with 46 points. Ladd also appeared in eight games with Coventry of the EIHL (Elite Ice Hockey League) in the UK and scored three goals and six points.

The Komets preseason roster of players expands to 25 and includes 16 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
