Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets announced Friday that forward Phelix Martineau has been assigned to Fort Wayne by the Laval Rocket of the AHL.
Martineau (MARR-tin-oh), 21, made his pro debut last year appearing in three games with the Komets scoring two goals and three points before adding four goals and eight points in 10 playoff games.
The Laval, Quebec native completed a four-year juniors career with Cape Breton last season leading the Screaming Eagles with 34 goals, 32 assists and 66 points in 68 games. Martineau finished with three straight 20+ goal seasons and QMJHL totals of  90 goals, 91 assists and 181 points in 260 games.
The Komets will open the season tonight at Indy at 7:35pm before traveling to Cincinnati for a 7:35pm faceoff Saturday.
