Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets are on the road for games at Toledo tonight at 7:15 and at Brampton Sunday for a 2pm matinee to finish this weekend.
Last night the Komets upended the visiting Kalamazoo Wings 3-1 in front of 7,664 Fort Wayne faithful at the Memorial Coliseum. Cody Corbett scored his first goal of the season to put the Komets on the board 1-0 at 9:29 of the first period. Ludwig Blomstrand pulled the Wings even at 13:43 before Komet forward Kyle Thomas scored the eventual game winner 40 seconds later. Mike Embach sealed the victory with a short handed tally 12:53 in the second period. Pat Nagle earned the win in the Fort Wayne net stopping 26 of 27 shots in his fourth straight start. Clay Witt suffered the loss for Kalamazoo allowing three goals on 37 shots. The Komets improve to 7-5-0 and 12 points while Kalamazoo falls to 7-8-1. Friday night the Walleye clipped the Beat at Brampton 2-1. -Gamesheet- -Video highlights-The Komets will skate at Toledo tonight at 7:15 and then will travel to Brampton for a 2pm faceoff Sunday against the Beast in the first of two trips to Ontario and the first of four meetings this season.
Komets home for Thanksgiving-- The Komets will skate three games in four nights next week. A trip to Cincinnati Wednesday and a 7:35pm faceoff at the U.S. Bank Arena starts a home-and-home series against Cincy and Fort Wayne. Then the Komets return home to host the Cyclones for the traditional Thanksgiving night game at the Memorial Coliseum at 7:30pm. Saturday the Komets host Toledo at 7:30pm to cap the holiday weekend.REPORT CARD NIGHT #1 Saturday-- The Komets will have two PHP Report Card Nights again this year. Students with an "A" or "A Equivalent" on their most recent report card earn a free ticket and have a chance to win a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bonds for future education on Report Card nights. The first is Saturday, Nov. 28 when the Komets host the Toledo Walleye at 7:30pm. Report Card Night #2 is slated for Saturday, Feb. 6 when the Komets host the Quad City Mallards.
