Fort Wayne, IN— The Fort Wayne Komets announced today that Skylar Garver, the 2024-2025 ECHL Equipment Manager of the Year, will return as head equipment manager for the 2026-2027 season after a season with Colorado of the AHL.
Garver, 30, a Fort Wayne native, began playing hockey at the age of four. His family owned and operated the Roller Dome where he learned to skate. Garver spent one season as an equipment manager at Indiana Tech, where he was part of the NAIA National Championship in 2019. He joined the Komets as assistant equipment manager in 2019-2020 and took over the head role the following season when the Komets captured the Kelly Cup title.
“I am so thankful to the Colorado Avalanche and Eagles organizations for the past year,” said Garver. “Donny White, Bryce Blinkhorn, Travis Ward, Ryan Bach, Martin Lind, Kevin McGlue, Reno Boyd, all my fellow Eagles' Trainers that made it difficult to leave Loveland, but ultimately for myself and my family, coming back to Fort Wayne and being a Komet in this 75th Anniversary Season is so special to me.
Garver replaces Leni DiCostanzo. DiCostanzo departs the team for Henderson of the AHL after one season with the Komets.
“I’m beyond thankful to my girlfriend, Caitlin, for being as supportive as she was and continues to be. Every time you see Dave Franke’s name pop up on your phone, it’s hard not to smile. To say I’m excited to be back in the Jungle is an understatement. October can’t come soon enough. Go K’s!”
