D-man Geertsen reassigned to Komets

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets begin a three-game weekend tonight at 8:00 when the Cincinnati Cyclones make their final visit of the season to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Komets split of a pair of games last weekend at Cincinnati and 3-4-0 against the Clones with three meetings remaining.

Saturday the Komets will travel to Toledo for a 7:30pm faceoff between the two division leaders. The Komets lead the Midwest Division of the Western Conference heading into this weekend's action while Toledo tops the North Division of the Eastern Conference. The Komets are 1-1-0 after two previous visits.

Sunday the Komets cap the weekend and the month of January with a trip to Kalamazoo and a 4pm start. The Komets are riding a three-game win streak against the Wings who will host Quad City tonight before welcoming the Komets Sunday.

Defenseman Geertsen reassigned to Fort Wayne-- The Komets announced today that defenseman Mason Geertsen (GURT-sen) has been reassigned to Fort Wayne from San Antonio of the AHL. The Colorado Avalanche prospect was selected by Colorado in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and made his AHL debut last season logging nine games with the Lake Erie Monsters. The Drayton Valley, Alberta native has appeared in 29 games this season with the Rampage scoring three assists and accumulating 34 penalty minutes.

Save with your Marathon Fill-Up Card at all Komet Friday night games.Report Card Night Feb. 6--The Komets present their second PHP Report Card Night of the year on Saturday, Feb. 6, when the Quad City Mallards visit for a 7:30pm faceoff. Students with an "A" or "A Equivalent" on their most recent report card earn a free ticket and a chance to win a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond for future education. Students can take their report card or a letter from their teacher showing an "A" or an "A equivalent" to the Coliseum Ticket Office between now and game night.

Komets on the air-- Komet games are scheduled to be aired on WOWO AM 1190 and FM 107.5 with Bob Chase calling most of the games radio-rinkside in his 63rd consecutive season. This Saturday night's game at Kalamazoo will also be televised in the Fort Wayne area on MyTV.
