Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets edged the visiting Cincinnati Cyclones Monday night at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne 2-1 in overtime to force a game 7 of the best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinals. The decisive game will be played Wednesday at 7:30pm in Fort Wayne.

After a scoreless first period Monday the Komets opened the second frame with a power play marker by Alex Belzile at 1:02. Nearly 29 minutes of scoreless hockey elapsed before Cincinnati's Andrew Yogan solved Komet goaltender Pat Nagle at 9:55 of the third period and knotted the game at 1-1 to set up the third straight overtime of the series.Cincinnati was called for penalties at 4:29 and 4:56 of the extra session. Fort Wayne took advantage of the two-man advantage as Garrett Thompson scored the game winner at 5:30 to give the Komets the win and even the series at 3-3 with the seventh and final game Wednesday.

Nagle earned the win stopping 23 of 24 shots while Cincy's netminder Brad Thiessen was given the loss making 39 saves on 41 shots.

The Komets finished 2/9 on the power play while the Cyclones were 0/9.
