Fort Wayne, IN –The Komets split two games last weekend as the team wraps up the regular season this week with four games. The team will face Kalamazoo once, Indy twice, and finish in Toledo on Sunday as the club readies to take on Cincinnati in the first round of the Kelly Cup playoffs. Home playoff game tickets for Round One Game Three (Tuesday, 4/25, 7:30 pm) and Round One Game Four (Friday, 4/28, 8:00 pm) are on sale now online at Ticketmaster.com/Komets or in person at the Allen County War Memorial ticket office. Round One Game Five, if necessary would also be in Fort Wayne on Sunday, April 30th, at 6:00 pm.

About last week – On Friday, the Komets survived an early surge by the Kalamazoo Wings, prevailing 5-2. After falling behind 2-0 in the first, Anthony Petruzzelli ended a 12-game goal drought by scoring his 23rd of the season at 14:34 of the first period. In the second period, Garrett Van Wyhe scored a short-handed goal at 1:22, followed by a Drake Rymsha strike at 4:07 to give the Komets the lead. Oliver Cooper and Shawn Boudrias scored power-play goals in the third to finish the scoring. Rymsha and Petruzzelli finished the game with three points, while goaltender Ryan Fanti made 18 saves for the win.
In Wheeling on Saturday, the Komets fell 4-3 to the Nailers in the season's final game between the two teams. The Nailers fired off three first period goals to take the early lead. With one second remaining in the second period, rookie Andy Willis scored his first professional goal to get the Komets on the scoreboard. In the third, the Nailers made it 4-1 with a tally at 5:12. The Komets tried to rally with goals from Sam Dove-McFalls and Anthony Petruzzelli just fourteen seconds apart to get the Komets within one. Wheeling goaltender Brad Barone turned aside the remaining Komet shots to hang on for the victory. Rylan Parenteau took the loss for the Komets, making 30 saves.

Special K's –The Komets were three of nine on the power play last week while giving up two power goals on 10 chances for the opposition.
Next Week – The Komets host Kalamazoo on Wednesday before traveling to Indy on Friday. The Fuel comes to the Coliseum on Saturday as the team travels to Toledo on Sunday for the final regular season game.
Icing the puck - Since 1952, the Komets have had the most post-season appearances (61) by any North American professional sports franchise, including; NHL, AHL, NBA, MLB, and NFL. The Komets will face Cincinnati in the first round of the playoffs. It will be the sixth playoff series between the two cities since 1956. Sam Dove-McFalls and Anthony Petruzzelli scored the fastest two goals of the season on Saturday, just fourteen seconds apart. Petruzzelli and Blake Siebenaler are the only Komets to play in all 68 games this season. The Komets only allowed two shots on net in the third period in Friday's win against Kalamazoo, the fewest of the season in one period. The team has given up the game's first goal 46 times this season. The club is 20-2-4 when scoring five or more goals in a game. The Komets' 1,319 penalty minutes is the most in a season since 2012-13 (1,385). On Sunday, the Komets will have the chance to win the season series with Toledo for the first time since 2017-18.
