Fort Wayne, IN— The Komets announced today that Lutheran Health Network, Fort Wayne Orthopedics (FWO), and the Orthopedic Hospital will extend their medical affiliation with the team, marking 37 years of partnership.
"This three-year agreement continues our strong relationship, which began in the early 1990s with Pete Paonessa and Dr. Ron Caldwell," stated Komets general manager David Franke.
While the Komets celebrate their 75th season, Lutheran Health Network commemorates 122 years of service to the Fort Wayne community. Lutheran Hospital was established Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1904.
"I would like to thank Lori Ailor of Lutheran Health Network, Shelly Miller of Fort Wayne Orthopedics, and Amy Hostetler of the Orthopedic Hospital. Each has provided exceptional support to Komet hockey. The Komets benefit greatly from the expertise of these three primary healthcare providers, who are also outstanding corporate sponsors," said Franke.
Lutheran Health Network employs more than 6,000 employees, physicians, advanced practice providers, and volunteers.
The Komets will play an exhibition game in Wheeling on Friday, October 9, then return to the Coliseum for a match on Sunday, October 11, starting at 5:00 p.m. The team opens the regular season with a home match against Toledo on Saturday, October 17, starting at 7:35 p.m.
