Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets gained two points for week 14 and finished at the ECHL All-Star break with a 27-8-3 record for 57 points and lead the Eastern Conference. Toledo is on the K's heels in the North Division race trailing by two points while Cincinnati holds third place with 38 points going into their Monday night game at Evansville. -ECHL Standings-The week began with the Komets doubling-up the visiting Evansville IceMen 4-2 Friday. Mike Embach posted his second two-goal outing for the Komets this season while C.J. Severyn and Ian Barteaux also contributed markers. Severyn also dished a pair of assists for his first three-point night of the year. Goaltender Roman Will extended his unbeaten (in regulation) streak to five games (3-0-2).Saturday the Komets had their seven-game point streak stopped with a 4-2 setback at Kalamazoo. Matthew Pistilli and Garrett Meurs scored Fort Wayne goals and Will had his unbeaten streak snapped at five games suffering his first regulation loss in six starts.Sunday the Komets stumbled 2-1 to the Wings in the back end of a home-and-home series for their first set of back-to-back losses this season. The Komets set a team record of 36 straight games before suffering back-to-back games without a point, breaking the old record of 35 games set in 2001-02. Pistilli scored his second goal in as many games. Will logged his third straight start making 27 saves on 29 shots in the Fort Wayne net.Milestones and streaks-- Pistilli scored his 100th pro goal and Joey Leach logged his 100th pro game Saturday at Kalamazoo.....Pistilli completes the week riding a five-game point-scoring streak (2g, 4a).Komet leaders-- Embach leads with 25 assists and 40 points (ranks 5th in ECHL).....Shawn Szydlowski (currently with Binghamton AHL) leads with 19 goals.....Drew Daniels leads with +28(2nd in ECHL).....Cody Sol leads with 72 penalty minutes. -Komets teamstats-ECHL All-Star Game Wednesday-- Komet Defenseman James Martin will be in the starting lineup for the 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic this Wednesday at Orlando. Martin leads ECHL defensemen with 22 assists and 28 points at the break. Martin also leads Komet defensemen with six goals and has appeared in all 38 Fort Wayne games to date. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is in his fourth pro year, second in the ECHL and first with the Komets.The game will be presented by Visit Orlando and will be available live in 23 states. In addition the game will be rebroadcast on various networks. It will also be webcast online at ECHL.TV. The week ahead-- After the All-Star break the Komets will visit Wheeling (18-18-0, 36 points) for a pair of games Friday and Saturday at 7:35 each night. The North Division rival Nailers are in fourth place and trail the first-place Komets by 21 points. The Komets are 0-0-1 against the Nailers after one meeting this season, a 5-4 shootout loss at the Memorial Coliseum Jan. 2 in Wheeling's only visit of the season. The games this weekend will complete the season series. The show airs on WPTA TV 21Alive from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse, 3869 Ice Way in Fort Wayne, featuring highlights, interviews and call-ins. Komet players and personnel will serve as co-hosts with 21Alive's Tommy Schoegler. Tonight, Monday, Jan. 19, Komet head coach Gary Graham will be Tommy's guest. All Komet fans are welcome to attend.
