The Komets visited Toledo for the first time this season on Saturday and were dropped by the Walleye.
In the first period, the Walleye took the lead with a Reilly Funk goal at 4:06. Funk was handed a five-minute major penalty for charging at 14:22, and Drake Rymsha tied it at 15:58.
The Komets gave up a power-play goal and a short-handed goal to fall behind 3-1 in the second period. The home team added to the lead with Chris Terry's goal at 8:13, but the Komets weren’t deterred when Jack Kopacka scored at 8:54, with assists to the Hults brothers, to cut the deficit in half. Hunter Johannas found the back of the net at 10:10 to pull the Komets within one.
In the final frame, after a Walleye goal was wiped off the scoreboard due to goaltender interference, Toledo scored their fifth of the night on a power play at 12:50. The Komets continued to claw their way back as Johannas scored again at 16:00 on a power play, with another pair of assists going to the Hults brothers, but with goaltender Evan Cormier on the bench for the extra skater in the final minutes, the Walleye found the back of the net to make it 6-4 final.
The Komets were outshot 29-16.
